To a great extent, the new age lifestyle can be blamed as the core reason of all our ailments. The toxins that gets accumulated in our body create an imbalance of the tridoshas (Vatha, Pitha and Kapha). This is when the need of Sodhana Chikitsa arises. Other wise known as the waste elimination therapy.
Sodhana Chikitsa includes three modes of therapies, namely Panchakarma, Snehakarma and Swedanakarma. For a period of 15 days the body is given massages, Snehapanam (On an empty stomach you are given medicated ghee to drink), Vamanam (Therapeutic vomiting), Nasyam (Through Nose), Virechanam (Medicated purgation), Snehavasthi (Oil enema), Kashaya Vasthi (Decoction enema), Pizhichil (Medicated oil massage) , Njavarakizhi (Massage using muslin bag bolus of medicated njavara rice pudding), Tharpanam (Eye Cleansing), Shirovasthi(Lukewarm oil kept on head), Steam bath, herbal drinks and medicines.
The therapy results in the restoration of the integrity of the tridoshas and ultimately purify the body and helping it to attain the state of equilibrium (samyata).
